Thank you for your inquiry. The Municipality of Leamington does not currently have a by-law regulating the use of all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) on municipal roads. However, road use regulations for these types of vehicles may still fall under provincial jurisdiction.

For the most accurate and up-to-date information, please contact the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) through their non-emergency line at 1-888-310-1122.

Thank you for your inquiry. Property owners or occupiers in urban Leamington are permitted to humanely trap cats trespassing on their property using portable, humane traps provided by the Municipality upon request. It is essential to ensure the cat's safety and well-being by providing adequate food, water, and shelter suitable for the current weather conditions.

The Municipality of Leamington offers traps for this purpose, requiring a refundable deposit of $80.00. Traps can be rented for $15.00 per day.

Alternatively, residents may choose to bring stray cats to the Windsor-Essex Humane Society in Windsor for a fee of $40.00.

For more information or to request a cat trap, please visit our website: https://www.leamington.ca/en/municipal-services/spay-neuter-program.aspx#Nuisance-Cats-

    Thank you for your question.

The Zoning By-law defines a “boarding, lodging and rooming house” as any building or portion thereof in which the proprietor supplies for hire or gain to more than three (3) other persons, lodging, meals, or both but shall not include a hotel, hospital, group home dwellings, home for the young or the aged or institution if the hotel, hospital, home or institution is licenced, approved or supervised under any general or special Act.

The analysis does not end with this definition. In determining whether a property is being used as a boarding house, one has to consider the actual use of the premises by the occupants. The distinguishing characteristic between a boarding house and a single dwelling unit is the control of the premises. Control in a boarding house is between the owner and the occupants on an individual basis, whereas in a single dwelling unit, it is by the group operating as a single tenancy.

If you believe a residence is in contravention of the Municipalities Zoning By-law, please report the issue through the Municipality's online tool here: leamington.ca/reportanissue

  • Share Hi, I live across from East Side Park on Bowman Avenue. Many dog owners do not poop & scoop & let their dogs run free in the park. Poop is also on lawns in this area. The by-laws need to be enforced. Sights in the park at both entrances should be larger & visible. Signs for fines & that residents can report dog owners too. It’s becoming worse everyday. I have gone out to offer bags to some owners who always say they forgot their bags but really they wouldn’t do clean up. For the park maybe not allowing dogs is the solution. Dogs off leash is getting worse & owners can’t even see where the dogs poop. Please help with this problem. I’m finding more & more poop on my lawn too. Confronting an owner is always risky. Thank you, a concerned citizen. on Facebook Share Hi, I live across from East Side Park on Bowman Avenue. Many dog owners do not poop & scoop & let their dogs run free in the park. Larry asked almost 2 years ago

Thank you for your question. There is no specific time of day that permits a dog to bark more than the By-law allows. By-law 51-18, regulates noise and states in section 3 (a) no person shall permit the persistent barking of a dog of which the person is the owner or has care and control. "Persistent" means of a continuous duration of not less than ninety (90) seconds per occurrence and occurring more than three times within a period of thirty (30) minutes.

For your reference, the noise by-law is available here: 51-18-Noise-By-law.pdf
