Leamington On-Demand Transit

The Municipality of Leamington replaced its fixed-route transit service with an on-demand service on May 2, 2022.

What is on-demand transit?

On-demand transit is a shared-ride public transit service that differs from conventional transit in that there is no fixed route or schedule. Buses are dispatched on a request basis. This means more flexibility for customers as they can book a ride when it’s most convenient for them. On-demand service can be requested from anywhere in the Municipality allowing riders to travel from point to point without transfers.

The on-demand transit program allows people to book a trip by either calling the customer service office, booking online through an app or website. Payment can be made on the vehicle or paid through the app. Check out our FAQ section for more information or visit leamington.ca/LTGO.

History of public transit in Leamington

Since 1985, the Municipality provided a public transit service known as Leamington Transit which operated as a conventional transit fixed-route bus service with 64 permanent bus stops and served the urban area of Leamington. The ridership on the system was relatively low for a community the size of Leamington, at about 22,000 riders per year.

On May 2, 2022, the Municipality launched a new on-demand transit service called LTGO (pronounced LT-go), which replaced its fixed-route service.

The LTGO on-demand service differs from conventional transit in that there is no fixed route or schedule, and buses are dispatched on a request-basis. The on-demand service uses 117 transit stops, expanding the operating area in Leamington to make it more convenient.

Information about LTGO on-demand transit can be found at leamington.ca/LTGO.

Why did you take the bus off Sunday? We take the bus everyday to work now Sundays we have to take a cab and that is $10.00 each there and back.It would be really nice to have the bus run again on Sunday please..From my co workers and I

    Gma asked 6 months ago

Thank you for your feedback. Currently, the bus service operates on Sundays, commencing from Victoria Day weekend and continuing until Labour Day. We are actively engaged in assessing the viability of extending our service to cover all Sundays throughout the year. Your input is greatly appreciated as we work towards enhancing our offerings.

Any chance of extending a route to Point Pelee Drive -at least to Mersea Park, perhaps even further? I like the on-demand option of bus service, and have used it several times to get to appointments in town, however it is a 20 minute walk to the nearest bus stop. It is ok on a nice summer morning, however the last time I used it was on a rainy day, which was a soggy walk, and even wetter waiting at the Robson Road roundabout stop with no shelter. Thanks for any info

Thank you for your comment. We continue to review rider feedback and add stops based on demand.

Currently, we are planning to add a bus stop at Mersea Park later this year.

Why doesn't LTGO run on Sundays between Labor Day and Victoria day? It's quite an inconvenience for people who rely on the service to get around.

Thank you for your feedback. As we approach the one-year anniversary of the launch of on-demand transit, we are reviewing ridership data and may consider changes to our hours of operation to better serve our community.

I got a 30 day pass already and I am wondering is this available on Sundays? I tried to book a ride and it won't let me

JoeD asked almost 2 years ago

Thank you for purchasing a 30-day pass, we hope you are enjoying the new service.

LTGO only runs on Sundays beginning Victoria Day weekend through to and including Labour Day.

My neighbours and I have been seeing a city bus come down Augusta Drive recently. This isn’t part of your program is it? From looking at the map, the closest stop is on Robson which makes sense.

NewToTown asked almost 2 years ago

@NewToTown Thank you for your question. During the testing phase of our on-demand service, we travelled through various neighbourhoods including Augusta Drive. However, once the service is launched on May 2, the bus will not travel down Augusta Drive as the stop closest to that neighbourhood is on Robson Road.

The bus stop on west side of Bennie just north of Wakefield on the map actually has the sign located on the west side of Bennie just south of Wakefield. Its location on map should be changed to real location as to not cause any confusion Thanks Kevin Nicholson

Thank you for your feedback, Kevin.

Some of our transit stops had to be relocated due to locates of underground utilities. Currently, we are in the process of installing 117 transit stops, and once they are completed we will GPS all locations and adjust where necessary.
