Project Update

The Municipality is pleased to announce that the building permit and planning application and approval process are now managed electronically through Cloudpermit.

The building permit application process successfully moved online in April 2022, followed by the planning application and approval process in January 2023.

Homeowners and business professionals are encouraged to submit applications online. However, paper-based applications can still be submitted at the Leamington Municipal Building where assistance will be provided with the online application process.

Online payment for the system is currently in the works and will be available later this year.

To submit a building permit application online, please visit www.leamington.ca/building

To submit a planning application online, please visit www.leamington.ca/planning

Background

The Municipality of Leamington is launching a new digital platform to manage the land development application and permit process more efficiently and effectively.

Through cloud-based e-permitting software called Cloudpermit, the building, planning and land development application and permit process will be managed electronically from application submission to final approval. This end-to-end electronic permitting process also improves customer service and reduces the cost of service delivery for the Municipality.

What does this mean?

Cloudpermit will allow applicants to fully submit an application online using any mobile device. This new paperless process allows applicants to enter information, upload plans and submit payment, without the need to visit the Leamington Municipal Building. Applicants will be able to track the status of their application by routinely logging into the Customer Portal to view updates and comments from staff.

Project Details and Timeline

This project was phased in over a nine-month period.

Phase 1 is complete and includes e-permitting for building permits. Applicants are now able to:

  • Apply for all types of building permits online by visiting www.leamington.ca/building
  • Check the status of an application
  • Schedule or cancel inspections
  • Check inspection results
  • Submit and request changes to an existing permit

Phase 2 is complete and includes the planning and land development application and permit process. Applicants are now able to:

  • Submit planning and land development applications online at www.leamington.ca/planning
  • Check status updates on the submitted application including application changes, responses, etc.

Online payment for the Cloudpermit system is currently in the works and will be available in 2023.

Have your say!

Please feel free to send us a question about the new technology and we will get back to you shortly.
