Official Plan Project Update March 2025

The Municipality of Leamington is developing a new Official Plan to guide growth, development, and land use for the next 30 years and beyond. In Phase 1, the project team held a public open house, an online survey, and individual stakeholder meetings. Following this, the team prepared an Engagement Report, a Background Review, Issues and Opportunities report, and several policy audits.

Phase 2 began in October 2024. Since then, the project team has prepared the Policy Directions Report. This report summarizes feedback received from Phase 1 of the Official Plan Review and presents policy recommendations that will be considered in the new Official Plan. It also presents the vision and goals that will guide Leamington’s growth to 2051. The Policy Directions Report is now available on Let’s Talk Leamington and can be viewed here.

A summary of the Policy Directions Report will be presented to the Municipal Council on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.

In Phase 3 of the Official Plan Review process, the project team will prepare the draft Official Plan policies and associated schedules. The draft plan will be available for public input, and these comments will inform revisions before it is brought to Council for final review. Updates and information on the Public Open House #2 will be announced through our Official Plan page.
