As part of our continued commitment to providing high-quality recreational spaces, the Municipality of Leamington will be upgrading the playground equipment at Donald and Wilhelm Parks. The existing playground equipment will be removed and replaced with new, modern equipment designed to offer a more engaging and enjoyable park experience for children and families.
In addition to the new playground equipment, the project will include a new playground base, amenities such as benches and garbage receptacles, and various other park improvements, including landscaping and restoration at both parks.
The project is scheduled to be completed this spring, weather permitting.
How We Replace Playgrounds
When replacing playground equipment, several important factors guide our decisions, including available budget, ongoing maintenance requirements, community feedback, and ensuring the playgrounds provide enjoyable and inclusive experiences for everyone.
Playground equipment typically has a lifespan of 18-20 years. Replacement schedules depend on Council approval. If your neighbourhood playground isn't scheduled for replacement this year, it's likely because it's not yet due for renewal. Visit our FAQ section for more information.
